What an amazing ‘ottermoon’ we had! We decided to call it ottermoon as we wanted to stand out from the standard ‘honeymoon’, and we both have a huge appreciation for otters and the way they interact, sleep, eat and love each other.
After our wedding day, we immediately traveled from the top of New York (Hogansburg, NY 13655) and headed straight for our vacation destination. We were torn between Maine and visiting the Acadia National Park, and Cape Cod.
Leaving without a specific itinerary, we ended up going up along the New York / Vermont border, and down i89 / 7 into Burlington VT. We hit the brewery trail for a few tastings at Foam Brewers, Queen City, and Switchback, then proceeded to head to Mass into the late night. We stopped almost near midnight.
The next day we continued our trek into Falmouth, MA, and began our official get away. Phones went on DnD, and we went straight to a store for beach supplies. We spent the better part of the day getting crispy on the beaches in Falmouth, and drove all along each of the small individual residential roads into East Falmouth -> Osterville -> Hyannis Port -> Hyannis -> West Yarmouth. We ended up staying the night in West Yarmouth and planned on trying out the Keltic Kitchen the next morning.
What a GREAT CHOICE this restaurant was. We came back later in the week for it again!
After eating we decided it was time to continue up to Providence Town (or P-Town), then work our way back down the coast. So, we went from West Yarmouth -> Harwich -> Chatham (we checked out the lighthouse!) -> then up to Providence Town.
There wasn’t much excitement in P-Town for us. Great opportunity if you want to go on a whale watch, or do some extensive tourist shopping in the downtown strip, but we mainly enjoyed the great food, beaches (that you couldn’t park at without a sticker so we just admired for a few minutes each time), and all of the cute houses that are all along the shorelines.
